About the Schools Programme
The Global Education Centre runs a Schools programme providing resources and training for teachers, teacher trainees and students. We offer the following services:
Global IssuesGlobal Issues is a quarterly magazine focusing on a different global issue each term. The magazines are full colour including articles, photographs, cartoons, and charts. The magazine explores global issues as they relate to Aotearoa New Zealand and in particular to young people. The magazine is sent free to every secondary school Social Studies and Geography department and school libraries. Contact us to be added to the mailing list for Global Issues if your school is not receiving copies. Back copies may be viewed and PDF versions downloaded from this site. Order hard copies of Global Issues. |
Fact SheetsWe produce fact sheets on a range of countries and global institutions. These include: historical information, charts, demographic information and development issues. They are excellent supplements for current events discussions with students, and background information for teachers. All are well-researched by the Global Education Centre's team of experienced teachers. Fact sheets are free to download from this site. |
Resource KitsWe produce resource kits for teachers based on the New Zealand curriculum. These kits focus on global and development issues and include teacher content and student activities. Kit descriptions and sample pages can be viewed and ordered on this site. |
WorkshopsWe run free interactive workshops for teachers, trainees and students on a range of global issues. Workshops for the year are listed on this website. |
