The Global Education Centre offers a variety of resources  for teachers, community educators, youth workers, and anybody who wants to lengage in Global Education.
  

Publications

GEC produce two regular publications on global issues.

Global Issues, is a youth friendly publication suited for use with young people in a variety of education settings.

Global Bits, provides educators and individuals with a deeper understaning of contemporary issues, and ideas for use in various education settings.

 

 

GEC:News

Is a bi-monthly e-zine, that provides interesting case studies, hot topics, updates on resources, multimedia and DVD's held in the GEC collection, to name a few. This can be subscribed to as part of our services or  viewed on this website.

Fact Sheets

The Global Education Centre produce short one-page fact sheets which are free to download off this website. The fact sheets are listed by topic. Topics include globalisation, human rights, debt and international institutions.

Movie Guides

Movie guides have been developed to assist in the use of popular film as an education tool for engaging learners in an exploration of issues contemporary global issues. The guides complement popular DVDs in the GEC library collection.

Resource Kits

The Schools programme sell resource kits for teachers on a variety of topics. These resource kits are useful in the classroom as they provoke critical thinking and make learning fun through many different styles of activities.

Youth Media

The Global Education Centre advocate for the inclusion of youth voices on global issues and are pro-active in working with media to create editorial opportunities for young people.

We have several collaborative projects which allow regular opportunities for young people to contribute editorial on global issues, particularly for youth media. Young writers are supported by youth network Just Focus and partners such as youth magazine Tearaway and JET Magazine.

Library

The GEC library is housed with the Dev-Zone library at the Development Resource Centre. The library catalogue can be browsed on this website and registered users on this website can borrow books and DVDs free of charge provided they live within Aotearoa New Zealand.
