About the Community programme

The Community programme provides resources and training for educators, youth workers, community workers and community groups. We offer the following services:

 

Global Bits resource

A free educational resource printed three times a year, Global Bits provides youth workers, community educators and young people with an easy-to-follow and practical overview of contemporary global issues. The resource includes strategies and activities for exploring global issues within non-formal educational settings.

Global Bits is free to community educators and all others with an interest in global issues (New Zealand only). Subscribe to Global Bits here.

DVDs

The Community team has a selection of DVDs which have been specially selected for their relevence and use in non-formal education settings. All DVDs listed here, along with hundreds of others, are part of the GEC/Dev-Zone collection and available free to hire.

Movie guides

Movie guides have been developed to assist in the use of popular film as an education tool for engaging learners in an exploration of issues contemporary global issues. The guides complement popular DVDs in the GEC library collection.

Workshops and training

A variety of workshops are avaliable for delivery in different community settings. Workshop topics cover a wide range of global issues and always start from the realities impacting on local communities.
